Rougher than the average Bond...

Well, weeks after everyone else, I finally saw Casino Royale last night.

And what's left to say? Daniel Craig is a remarkably well put together bit of totty. Far more attractive in the Lippy sense of the word than poor old Pierce ever was. I do like a bit of rough.

But the plot didn't bear any examination at all did it? A few good ideas, beautiful treacherous girlfriend, Bond in love,(not withstanding the TB making mock puking noises all through the beach scene - what is he 6???) nasty torture....but who was behind it and why ? The only villan we really knew about got killed early on - Le Chiffre at the end of the day was a middle man. Ah well, at least the villan doubled as extra totty in this one...had a bit of a thing for Mads Mikelson for a while.

Dame Judy though - fabulous, love her always.

Daniel Craig definately your type of bond.
I like the idea of not getting to the bottom of the villany.

But then I like open questions and ambiguity.

I did enjoy it - a very diverting way to spend a cold foggy evening. Makes me think I should get out to the cinema more often!

I enjoyed it much more than the earlier campy-type Bond films. But I did feel the last half hour was rushed. Bad editing? Watched "Gosford Park" the other night on DVD - excellent, like a who's who of British acting.

Looks like "Borat" is the film of the year!

I loved the new "pared down" modern, voilent Bond. I mean Daniel Craig was naked what was not to love. But to keep the format they need a much tighter script. I think.

OH and Gosford Park - Clive Owen was just DIVINE in that,

I must admit to getting a bit confused with the last bit of the plot , looks like they cut a few bits that would have made sense of it all , to get it under 2 and a half hours....but I enjoyed it anyway.
Re Dame Judy , a national treasure as Frobisher is always telling me.
Surely Frobisher means The Devli Wears Prada that he FORCED me to go and see (and you havnt been forgiven yet)

Daniel Craig IS rather well put-together, and he obviously doesn't mind sharing that with the world. He played a cad in a strange English film a few years back (I think it was called Mother) in which they show him in love scenes with a doughy OAP who's spilling out in many directions. Sort of shocking, the contrast between his ripped young bod and her seen-better-days form.
