If you are going to play office politics you have to really understand the rules of the game.
In particular if you are going for the "lick the bosses arse and step on everyone else on the way up" strategem , you have to move fast and have wear teflon body armour. .
Otherwise the people you are standing on tend to move randomly just to drop you onto your arse and have a laugh at your expense !!
It also helps if you are actually know what you are doing!

Well as you can imagine in a large corperate , there are plenty of the creeps and liggers , but as mostof the managers havn't got a clue what they are doing iether they tend to succeed.....still as you say dropping them on there ass always goes down well
I can imagine only too clearly - once worked in a 600 lawyer outfit so you can imagine what that was like!
Currently amused by former assistant's current posturing! - he might have got away with it if he wasn't qutie so gutless!
